Nagaland

Nagaland is a hilly state, which is situated in the north-eastern part of the country of India. The capital of this state is called Kohima. The state is bounded by Assam towards the west, Myanmar towards the east, Manipur on the south and a section of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on the north.

This state is located between the 95°15' East and 93°20'E Longitudes and 27°4' and 25°6' North Latitudes. The total area covered by the state is 16,527 square km.
Nagaland was declared the 16th state of the country of India as on 1st of December in the year 1963. Another interesting information about Nagaland is that it houses as many as 16 different ethnic groups.

Climate of Nagaland

Nagaland has a pleasant climate. It is generally cool in winter and warm in summer specially in the interior places and higher hills. In winter the night temperature come down between 4 degree celcius to 1 degree celcius in December, January and February are the coldest months in the year. The temperature does not rise beyond 32 degree celcius and the average summer temperature is 22 degree celcius to 27 degree celcius.

             The average annual rainfall for about seven months from May to October is between 220 cm and 250 cm in the state.
July is the hottest month. The hottest days appear in July, August and September during sunny days. The pleasant season starts from the September during sunny days. The pleasant season starts from the month of October. Winter starts by November. The period from December to the early part of February are the coldest months in the year.

People Of Nagaland

Most of the People of Nagaland are part of the various tribal groups that inhabit the rural corners of the state. Apart from tribes Nagaland state also has many sub-tribes.

The people of the state are known to have significant contribution towards the Nagaland society and culture. The prime religion followed by majority of Nagaland people is Christianity. Those people who live in the plain areas of Nagaland call the inhabitants of the upper regions of the state as Nagas.
Nagamese is the language which is spoken by almost all the people of Nagaland. However, each and every Nagaland tribe has its own chain of linguistics.
