Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is the largest state of south India .it is situated on the east coast of India .along the bay of Bengal .orissa ,Madhya Pradesh ,maharashtra,Karnataka and tamil nadu are its neighbouring states .

Its eastern parts are a fertile coastal plain .the major portion lies in the rocky regions of the deccan plateau and the eastern ghats.

The capital of Andhra Pradesh is Hyderabad. It is one of the historical and most beautiful cities of India.charminar,hussain sagar and the salarjung museum are places worth visiting.golconda fort near Hyderabad is another important place of historical interest.

Andhra Pradesh like its neighbouring states of orissa and Madhya Pradesh ,is rich in minerals .manganese iron-ore and mica are found in plenty .textiles ,paper ,fertilizers,tobacco and cement are the important industries .it is famous for handicrafts like ,wooden toys ,bangles ,carpets,handloomsarees and beautiful silver articles of fine filigree work.

Vishakhapatnam is the most important seaport in Andhra Pradesh.it is the most famous ship-buliding centre of India .it also has an oil refinery and a fertilizer plant other important towns are nizamabad ,nellore,anantpur,vijayawada and chittoor.

Land Surface and Rivers of Andhra Pradesh

There are many river flowing eastwards into the bay of Bengal .the important river are the godavari and the Krishna.most river of the east coast of India form deltas before they join the sea .the delta regions of these river are very fertile.they are called the rice –bowls of south India.these river get water only from the rains .people store the rain-water in tanks.the water of these tanks is used for irrigation.the nagarjuna sagar dam across river Krishna provides water for irrigation to large areas .it also produces electricity.

Food and Temple of Andhra Pradesh

The food of the people of Andhra Pradesh consists of rice and jowar chapatis with plenty of fish or vegetables .pickles and chillies are part of their food .

The famous temple of sri venkateswara (balaji)at tirupati attracts pilgrims from all over the country.

Crops Of Andhra Pradesh

As in other coastal states,rice is the main crop .other important crops are sugar-cane ,tobacco ,oil –seeds ,cotton,groundnut,turmeric and chillies .fishing is another important occupation of the people .

People Of Andhra Pradesh

The people of Andhra Pradesh speak the telugu language.some speak urdu .kuchipudi is the famous classical dance style of Andhra Pradesh .

Dresses Of Andhra Pradesh

Most men wear dhoti and kurta .many wear achkan and pyjama also. The women wear dark –coloured handloom saree and choli.the girls wear skrit with blouse .
